Tahir Gözel participated in partnership talks in the digital sector in Zambia

From May 8 to 12, businessman Tahir Gözel participated in the “Digital Trade” Forum held in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, at the invitation of AfCFTA Secretary-General Wamkele Mene.

Tahir Gozel began his speech by emphasizing the role played by national leader Heydar Aliyev in strengthening Azerbaijan’s statehood and socio-economic development, and then highlighted the achievements of the country under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, especially the development in the field of innovation.

Touching on the contributions that Azerbaijan can make to the digital transformation efforts of African countries, Tahir Gözel presented the success of the “ASAN Service” model, the technological solutions of the Space Agency (“Azerkosmos”) and the company “Proxima Tech Solutions” founded by Gözel, and expressed their readiness to support in this area. He invited delegations from African countries to Azerbaijan to familiarize themselves with the technological potential in order to expand the partnership. Gözel’s speech was met with great interest by the forum participants and was also widely broadcast on the influential CNBC TV channel.

During his visit, Tahir Gözel also participated in bilateral meetings with government representatives from several African countries, and held meetings with Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, Zambia’s Minister of Technology and Science, Felix C. Mutati, and Rwanda’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Prudence Sebahizi.

During the meetings, Tahir Gözel provided detailed information on Azerbaijan’s achievements in the digital sphere, including the potential for exporting digital services. In particular, the success of the “ASAN Service” model and the advanced technological solutions provided by “Proxima Tech Solutions” were emphasized. He also presented opportunities for cooperation with African countries in the areas of establishing e-government platforms, implementing cybersecurity systems, and developing artificial intelligence-based services.

Zambia’s Minister of Technology and Science, Mr. Felix C. Mutati, announced his plans to visit Azerbaijan to closely observe the country’s technological development. Rwanda’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Prudence Sebahizi, noted that President Paul Kagame has paid special attention to the field of digital transformation and expressed his desire to get acquainted with Azerbaijan’s digital management systems. After receiving detailed information, the ministers emphasized their respect for Azerbaijan and expressed their openness to partnership.

These meetings are considered an important step in expanding partnership opportunities between Africa and Azerbaijan in the digital field.
